Urbana School District #116 is home to a diverse student population with several schools that offer one of the state’s best Dual Language programs. Over 14% of our district’s students are English learners representing over 50 countries. Urbana is also home to the University Laboratory High School (Uni High), a selective admission, public laboratory school associated with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The school serves academically talented students, residing in Illinois, from the sub-freshman level (combined 7th and 8th grades) through high school. The school is notable for the achievements of its alumni, including three Nobel laureates and a Pulitzer Prize winner; Uni High has also been recognized as a "public elite" school by Newsweek because of its students' high scores on the SAT.
